CBDP Accessibility Statement
Curated Place operate in line with the Equality Act 2010.
Our ethos is to be open to all. We believe in the creative and economic case for diversity.
We are committed to ensuring we remove barriers to access wherever possible, and have taken steps to ensure the Cultural Business Development Programme (CBDP) is as broadly accessible as possible.
We recognise that barriers to participation are complex and intersectional, and that the work of removing barriers and improving access is never "done" but requires continuous reflection and action.
Accessibility, and the need for equality, diversity and inclusion has been considered in the design of the CBDP, in particular when looking at: Recruitment to the programme, Scheduling and Planning, and Participants and Contributors
Curated Place is committed to making change in the creative sector, and bringing in new voices and perspectives, and to continually learning and improving how we remove barriers to access.
Recruitment to the Programme
We will make the application processes as simple as possible whilst ensuring it is robust and clear
Applications can be submitted as text, audio or video
We are committed to equality, inclusivity and diversity and open to applications from participants who may typically be underrepresented
We will share and promote opportunities on free to access platforms and via a network of partners working across a diversity of places, artforms, communities
Our aim is for gender balanced shortlisting, interview and assessment panels (where these are required)
Scheduling and Planning
We use the Social Model of Disability to underpin our approach to accessibility: to recognise that any barrier to accessing the activity is not created by the participant but by the environment and programme that we design.
All participants will be invited to complete access riders so we can fully understand each individual’s requirements.
The programme is designed with capacity to flex and change to allow for individual needs: we can modify learning plans, adapt delivery plans and adapt materials in response to participant needs.
We have undertaken holiday tracking, noting key religious and national holidays
We also track school holidays to avoid scheduling deadlines and key activities when those with caring commitments may be most stretched.
We have budgeted for responsive access provision: this might be BSL interpretation, live captioning or something else, based on participants’ needs.
Alternative Formats: Upon request we will provide materials in alternative formats- including large print, easy read, audio or BSL interpretations.
Schedules are designed to support everyone:
Contact time starts at 10am and is done by 4pm in an effort to support participants with caring commitments, and avoiding very early starts or late finishes for any travel to in-person sessions
Regular breaks, particularly when working online
Participants and Contributors
We have devised an approach to delivery which ensures a positive working environment that respects difference
Our facilitators are experienced in finding solutions to challenges, and to maintaining and ensuring access in changing environments.
Session leaders, expert contributors and participants are all asked to agree to the same code of conduct, fostering mutual respect and making clear how individuals should expect to be treated and should treat others
Our evaluation plans provide feedback opportunities for participants, experts, staff and partners to ensure we continually push ourselves to be more inclusive
